HOW TO BE WELL
by Frank Lipman with Amely Greeven
April 2018 – Houghton Mifflin Harcourt
HOW TO BE WELL is a simple answer to a complicated problem. The world at large is not geared toward our best health – left to our own devices, most of us would be awash in coffee, bagels, sugar and stress. Our environment is toxic, more of the time than any of us would like to admit or believe. Many of us are on multiple medications that while well-intentioned are wrecking everything in our health that they didn’t set out to fix. And is anybody getting as much sleep as they need? We have so much information available to us, from possibly brilliant to downright dangerous, that if you even have the inclination to improve your health, it’s hard to get out of bed in the morning without being confused.
The key to HOW TO BE WELL is that it is a “no-program program” – designed for readers who are tired of the 10 day detoxes, 4 week diets and other gimmicks that might have been inspiring but were not ultimately very useful. It is the book equivalent of the hip, friendly, warm and wonderful health coaches of Frank Lipman’s office, who take each patient by the hand, figure out what they need to succeed, how that individual can “be well”, and show them exactly what to do to get there. The patient does what works for them – slow or fast, cherry picking what appeals to them.
